Ti Maché means little market in Kréyol, and is the name used for our sales of Haitian art. We purchase a wide variety of art directly from artists throughout the country, and sell it at our own and other events to increase awareness of the beauty of Haiti. Proceeds directly benefit our work with street children. Ti Maché events have been held in our home and garage, a studio in San Francisco, a friend’s backyard, schools, and included in other seasonal World Art sales. Help is always needed with pre-event organizing, transportation, set-up, and event sales. We will graciously accept offers to host a Ti Maché.
Come to Haiti and assist in the Photography Workshops, outreach services, and field trips. Help us out in our office with data entry, assembling Care Packages, sorting donations, updating our database, and processing orders. Organize a school or community donation drive for the kids. Host a Ti Maché or photo exhibit.
Buy a photograph, postcards, or one of Wilky’s crochet hats. All prints are for sale with proceeds going directly to the student photographer. Postcards are a set of eight different images-three taken by the children ($5). Wilky Flouremond learned to crochet while living at Lafanmi Selavi, and has been selling his beautiful hats in Haiti and the US. All proceeds go directly to Wilky.
Schedule a slide presentation in your school or community. Many local schools have participated in donation drives after viewing informational slide presentations about Haiti and the children’s lives. Others have conducted special photography workshops of their own using the Haiti Street Children’s Photography Workshops as a model. We invite these and other ideas for creating awareness and helping out the kids.
